WE ARE INVESTORS

Across the United States and Puerto Rico, ¸ßÇåÅܹ·Í¼ is investing in hundreds of underserved communities by carrying out unique workforce development initiatives that improve the quality of life for the people who live there. Whether it’s through one-on-one job coaching, employment services targeting senior workers, or training for rewarding jobs in healthcare and green construction, ¸ßÇåÅܹ·Í¼ is paving the way to equal access and upward career mobility for the people who need it most.

Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP)

Since July 2003, ¸ßÇåÅܹ·Í¼ has been funded by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) to operate the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) focusing on the training and employment needs of the mature worker. ¸ßÇåÅܹ·Í¼ currently serves over 3,500 participants in over 250 counties in California, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Texas, and Wisconsin.

National Farmworker Jobs Program

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has funded ¸ßÇåÅܹ·Í¼ since July 2021 to operate the National Farmworker Jobs Program (NFJP). ¸ßÇåÅܹ·Í¼ administers this program in the California counties of Imperial, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz.  The NFJP focuses on assisting migrant and seasonal farmworkers (MSFWs) and their families to attain greater economic stability. The program helps farmworkers acquire the skills they need to retain agricultural jobs or start new careers.

American Job Centers

American Job Centers are the focal point of the nation’s workforce investment system. These centers – which are an integral, lively part of the communities in which they are located – provide a broad array of employment and training services for workers, youth, and businesses, including the mandatory Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) partners on-site.

The centers give job seekers easy access to a range of assistance options – all under one roof – including training referrals, career counseling, job listings, and similar employment-related services. The centers also offer essential services to employers and businesses. ¸ßÇåÅܹ·Í¼ affiliates across the country operate the centers in partnership with local governing institutions in Illinois, Michigan, and Texas.

Innovative Adult Workforce Programs

Local ¸ßÇåÅܹ·Í¼ affiliates operate other workforce development programs targeting Hispanics and all other underrepresented minority groups. In Houston, ¸ßÇåÅܹ·Í¼ of the Texas Gulf Coast is implementing a Pathways Out of Poverty grant focused on creating job skills in green construction trades and providing career pathways to over 400 people who have dropped out of high school or were involved in the criminal justice system.
